3/4/23 Daily Picks (CBB)

Garrett Hart

Today features a long list of both of regular season finales and conference tournament games throughout the college basketball world. Several conference championships are coming down to the wire today, while the Ohio Valley officially concludes their tournament championship tonight at 7--marking the 1st of 4 tournament finales this weekend.

Top 25 Matchups Today:

#2 Alabama (26-4) @ #24 Texas A&M (22-8), 11am CT on CBS

#3 Kansas (25-5) @ #9 Texas (22-8), 3pm CT on ESPN

#25 Pitt (21-9) @ #16 Miami (23-6), 5pm CT on ACC Network

#8 Arizona (25-5) @ #4 UCLA (26-4), 9pm CT on ESPN

CBB Picks:

K-State +5 (-110)

#11 K-State (23-7) @ West Virginia (17-13), 1pm CT on ESPN+

With a win today, K-State would officially clinch the #2 seed in next week's Big 12 tournament. West Virginia is downright fighting for their lives today, as a home loss would likely push them on the wrong side of the bubble. K-State managed to squeak out an OT win in the first matchups between these teams. Even if they can't win the game outright today, expect K-State to cover what is a larger spread than expected.

KenPom: WVU 77-74

Torvik: WVU 77-73

Fordham ML (-118)

Duquesne (20-10) @ Fordham (23-7), 1pm CT on ESPN+

If you've been following our site at all the last month, you'd know that we love Fordham this year. Having the best season since joining the A-10 in 1991, the Rams are 17-2 at home this year and 23-7 overall. Fordham already won at Duquesne this year, so side with the home team today.

KenPom: Fordham 74-73

Torvik: Duquesne 73-72

TCU ML (-130)

#22 TCU (20-10) @ Oklahoma (14-16), 2pm CT on ESPN+

Since getting Mike Miles back from injury, the Frogs have reeled off 3 of their last 4, with the only loss coming to #3 Kansas. Oklahoma, even at 14-16, is more than capable of winning this game, as seen with throttling win over Alabama in January. TCU's playing their best basketball of the year to this point, with a real shot at making a run in March.

KenPom: TCU 72-71

Torvik: TCU 71-70

Bradley ML (-135)

Indiana State (22-11) vs. Bradley (24-8), 2:30pm CT on CBSSN

Bradley is the #1 seed in the Missouri Valley tournament, with a birth to tomorrow's championship game on the line today. The Braves already won by double digits in Terre Haute in these team's first game this year, so have some faith in Rienk Mast (14.6 PPG & 8.0 RPG) to push them through today.

KenPom: Bradley 73-71

Torvik: Bradley 73-71

SJSU +2.5 (-110)

San Jose State (18-12) @ Air Force (14-16), 3pm CT on ESPN+

SJSU has been an extremely profitable team this season, as the Spartans are having their best season in more than a decade. Air Force has lost 9 of their last 11, including a 30 point loss to SJSU.

KenPom: SJSU 66-65

Torvik: AFA 64-63

UNC ML (-160)

Duke (22-8) @ UNC (19-11), 5:30pm CT on ESPN

Even as a Kansas fan, I have to admit this is the best rivalry in college basketball. Neither team has met preseason expectations, especially the once #1 ranked Tar Heels. My best strategy for this game is to blindly pick UNC to win at home for several reasons. UNC can ill-afford to lose today, as a loss would likely put the nail in the coffin for their NCAA hopes. Duke won the first matchup in Cameron Indoor, but expect an Armando Bacot legacy game today.

KenPom: UNC 71-69

Torvik: UNC 71-69

Other Picks:

Rider +7.5 (-115)

Iona (23-7) @ Rider (16-12), 6pm CT on ESPN+

KenPom: Iona 75-69

Torvik: Iona 75-68

Villanova +2.5 (-120)

#14 UConn (23-7) @ Villanova (16-14), 6:30pm CT on FOX

KenPom: UConn 73-68

Torvik: UConn 72-67

Vanderbilt +2.5 (-120)

Mississippi State (20-10) @ Vandy (17-13), 7:30pm CT on SEC Network

KenPom: Vandy 67-66

Torvik: Vandy 66-65

Santa Clara ML (-150)

San Francisco (19-13) @ Santa Clara (23-8), 11:30pm CT on ESPN2

KenPom: SC 79-76

Torvik: SC 80-77
