We're back on the site here for the first time this week. After a hectic class schedule and multitude of tests, we've resulted to our Instragram page for our last couple days worth of picks, and luckily we haven't missed a beat.
Last night's record: 4-0 CBB, 2-1 NHL --> 6-1 Overall
Tonight features a strong slate of games, with several low-major tournaments currently in progress.
Top 25 Matchups:
CBB Picks:
Providence ML (-165)
With a 15-0 record at home this year, the Friars look to hopefully claim a 2nd place finish in the Big East. Providence just barely lost the first matchup between these two sides a month ago today, 85-83 in OT. Xavier's Zach Freemantle has missed the last month of play with a foot injury and will likely be out tonight as well.
KenPom: Providence 81-79
Torvik: Providence 81-79
St. Francis (PA) ML (-165)
CCSU (10-21) @ St. Francis (PA) (12-17), 6pm CT on ESPN+
A battle between the #3 and #6 seeds in the NEC, St. Francis (PA) has been regarded as a sneaky favorite to win this tournament. They feature league POY, Josh Cohen (22.0 PPG & 8.1 RPG), and are winners of 3 of their last 4. CCSU won the most recent matchup, but expect the Red Flash to prevail.
KenPom: St. Francis (PA) 74-71
Torvik: St. Francis (PA) 75-70
Pitt ML (-170)
#25 Pitt (21-8) @ Notre Dame (10-19), 6pm CT on ESPNU
With a win tonight, Pitt could clinch a share of its first ACC title in more than a decade. Notre Dame has been historically bad this year, with Mike Brey announcing his decision to leave the program following the conclusion of this season. Pitt holds a 7-3 road record this year and are winners of 8 of their last 9.
KenPom: Pitt 75-70
Torvik: Pitt 73-70
SELA ML (-154)
SELA (17-13) @ Houston Christian (10-20), 7pm CT on ESPN+
SELA has burnt me a number of times this year. However, Houston Christian is terrible on the year and have proved to be at least somewhat serviceable on the road this year at 6-8. SELA ranks #256 on KenPom, while Houston Christian stands almost 100 spots lower at #348.
KenPom: SELA 85-81
Torvik: SELA 85-83
Utah State ML (-152)
Utah State (22-7) @ UNLV (17-11), 10pm CT on CBSSN
The Aggies in my opinion are more than capable of serving as a bid stealer in the coming weeks, with a real shot at either an at-large or automatic birth in this year's NCAA tournament. Utah State has no real bad losses in conference this year and squeaked away with a 4 point win against UNLV earlier this year. However, Utah State shoots the 3-ball at a 39% clip (8th nationally) while UNLV's perimeter defense ranks just 279th in the country.
KenPom: Utah State 77-75
Torvik: Utah State 78-77
