For the fourth day in a row, our site has come away with a net positive result. Last night, the college basketball slate was not as friendly as prior nights, largely a result of KU deciding to play arguably their most dominant game of the season.
Tonight features several high level matchups between ranked teams:
CBB Plays:
Akron ML (-135)
Last week, I bet on Akron to take down Kent State and they pulled through without any real threat. At 9-1 in conference, Akron sits alone at the top of the MAC, with Toledo just behind at 8-2. With this game being in Akron, where the Zips are 12-0 on the season, this is a strong play. Both teams enter the game on respective eight and seven game win streaks, so trust the analytics on this one.
KenPom: Akron 78-74
Torvik: Akron 78-74
VCU ML (-170)
After knocking off Saint Louis on the road on Friday night, VCU looks like the best team in the Atlantic 10 right now--backed by their record of 9-2 in conference. Facing Dayton at home, VCU is 12-2 on the season playing in Richmond, and came out on top in their first matchup with Dayton this season, 63-62. Although this line is juiced towards VCU, it's worth the price in my opinion.
KenPom: VCU 66-63
Torvik: VCU 65-63
Georgia ML (-125)
Both relative bottom feeders in the SEC this year, Georgia is just a slight favorite at home against just a 1-9 Ole Miss team in conference play. Georgia is 11-1 at home this year compared to the Rebels boasting just a 1-6 road record, with Ole Miss riding a 5 game losing streak into tonight.
KenPom: Georgia 70-67
Torvik: Georgia 70-66
Texas A&M ML (-150)
2 of the top 4 teams in the SEC face off in College Station tonight between A&M and Auburn. Auburn won the first matchup between these two pretty handily, however, the Aggies seem to be much improved since then. My strategy tonight is to stick with the slight home favorites, with this game serving as no exception.
KenPom: A&M 71-69
Torvik: A&M 72-68
Drake ML (-155)
At 10-4 in conference and with the likely Missouri Valley Conference POY on their roster, Drake is just a slight road favorite tonight. In their first matchup, Drake cruised to a 20 point win, but don't expect a similar result tonight. Darian DeVries' team enters on a 5 game winning streak and has been one of the best mid-major teams in the country as of late, even in a ruckus Murray State gym tonight.
KenPom: Drake 71-68
Torvik: Drake 71-68
Michigan State ML (-155)
A battle of two mid-tier Big Ten teams, the Spartans enter this game 9-2 inside the Breslin Center. Although 9th in conference this year, Maryland is just 2-5 on the road this season. Despite aa 4 game winning streak, ignore the records and expect Michigan State to win tonight at home.
KenPom: Michigan State 71-68
Torvik: Michigan State 66-63
San Jose State +3.5 (-110)
Assuming SJSU pulls out a road win tonight, Tim Miles & Co. will have the most wins in a season since the team joined the Mountain West more than a decade ago. After a terrible start to the year, Fresno State has regained their footing and has since gone 4-7 in the MW. At 5-5 in conference and relatively decent on the road this season, SJSU should be able to cover tonight, even if they fail to pull of a "road upset."
KenPom: SJSU 64-63
Torvik: SJSU 62-61
