After a loaded Tuesday slate of college basketball, Wednesday's schedule is significantly lighter with only one ranked matchup in the sport. As per usual, there are a number of mid and low major games that feature some intriguing lines.
Around the rest of the sports world, tonight remains relatively calm. For the past week, I have been starting to bet on games in the AHL, which has returned a 7-4 record overall. There is one particular NHL game tonight that has my interest, which has been significantly profitable as of late. Again, no NBA games tonight, as the All-Star break runs through Wednesday.
Top CBB Games:
Kentucky (18-9) @ Florida (14-13), 6pm CT on ESPN
Iowa (17-10) @ Wisconsin (15-11), 8pm CT on BTN
New Mexico (20-7) @ Boise State (21-6), 9:30pm CT on FS1
CBB Picks:
Winthrop ML (-175)
Campbell (13-15) @ Winthrop (13-16), 6pm CT on ESPN+
Both teams come into this matchup tonight at 8-8 in the Big South and sub .500 overall. When these two played on January 14th at Campbell, Winthrop came away with a 4 point win. Pair that with the Camels being just 4-8 on the road this year, Winthrop at home tonight is the right side.
KenPom: Winthrop 74-70
Torvik: Winthrop 73-69
Lehigh ML (-175)
Bucknell (11-18) @ Lehigh (15-12), 6pm CT on ESPN+
Despite a 15-12 record this year overall, Lehigh has shown itself as a real threat in the Patriot League at 10-6 in conference. Bucknell sits at the bottom of the league standings at just 4-12 and has shown to be an extremely ineffective team on the road this year at 3-11. Lehigh won the first matchup between these sides earlier this year 72-64, so expect more of the same tonight. I'm sure C.J. McCollum and Mike Muscala will be tuned in tonight on their night off.
KenPom: Lehigh 73-69
Torvik: Lehigh 73-68
New Hampshire ML (-156)
Maine (11-15) @ UNH (12-13), 6pm CT on ESPN+
Earlier this season, I watched New Hampshire absolutely sh-t pump my beloved Vermont Catamounts in Durham. Since then, the Wildcats have shown themselves to be a mid-tier team in the America East, which isn't a great conference to begin with. Maine already dropped the first game between these two in January by double digits, so side with the home team.
KenPom: UNH 66-64
Torvik: UNH 65-62
Fordham ML (-125)
Fordham (21-6) @ Loyola Chicago (9-17), 8pm CT on ESPN+
Last week I threw a couple bucks on a Fordham future to win the A-10 at +3500. Although it's not going to cash, the Rams are having their best season since 1991 and Loyola has shown itself as the doormat of the conference this season. Was a jump from the Missouri Valley a bit premature for the Ramblers?
KenPom: Fordham 72-69
Torvik: Loyola 70-69
St. John's ML (-134)
St. John's (16-12) @ Georgetown (7-21), 8pm CT on CBSSN
Georgetown has won just 1 Big East game in the past two seasons. Even with Andre Curbelo listed as questionable for this game, there's no reason to trust Patrick Ewing and company in what has been a horrific tenure at his alma mater.
KenPom: St. John's 79-75
Torvik: St. John's 80-78
NHL Picks:
Coyotes +1.5 (-140)
Calgary (26-20-11) @ Arizona (20-28-9), 8:30pm CT
Arizona has floated near the bottom of the Western Conference for much of this year. However, they have been a covering machines during the month of February, with only one loss of more than 1 goal. During this same stretch, the 'Yotes have managed to knock off both Minnesota and Tampa Bay at home, so have a bit of faith in Arizona tonight to play a tight game.
AHL Picks:
Springfield Thunderbirds ML (-140)
Hartford (22-21-3) @ Springfield (25-18-2), 6:05pm CT
Springfield holds a 4-0-1 mark against Hartford this season in H2H matchups.
Calgary Wranglers ML (-175)
Henderson (16-29) @ Calgary (36-12-2), 8pm CT
Henderson is 2-1 against Calgary this year. However, they're 2nd worst in the Pacific with their Canadian foes comfortably on top, so trust the Wranglers.
