Transfer Portal Report: 3/20

This is a new series that we will be updating on a daily/weekly basis covering the top transfers available in college basketball.

Today was wild throughout the sport of college basketball to say the least. Three well-established coaches made moves to different programs across the nation, with Rick Pitino to St. John's, Ed Cooley to Providence, and Mike Brey to South Florida.

Since the end of the regular season and even during the midst of the season for some, the transfer portal has been continuously piling up with those seeking new opportunities for the 2023-24 year. As a Kansas fan, my focus is unfortunately already set on next season in terms of figuring out the top transfers available in the sport. On Monday alone, here a few of the top athletes that announced their decision to enter the portal:

Andrew Rodhe (St. Thomas) G 6'6"185 Fr. | Milwaukee, WI

2022-23 Stats: 17.1 PTS, 3.7 REB, 3.6 AST, 32% 3PT

-True freshman rated as a 3-star recruit (#316 overall) by 247Sports with offers from St. Thomas, App State, DePaul, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan

-Led the Tommies in scoring this season in their second season since reclassifying from Division III

-Very fundamentally sound guard with the ability to find others on the court, range well beyond the college 3pt line

-Not an elite athlete but will likely be a valuable piece for a Power 6 conference team next season

Clarence Daniels II (New Hampshire) F 6'6" 225 Jr. | Brooklyn Park, MN

2022-23 Stats: 15.3 PTS, 10.7 REB, 39.5% 3PT

-Previously transferred from MSU-Billings (Division II)

-Good athlete with the ability to consistently knock down from 3

-Led UNH in both PTS and 3PT%

Damian Dunn (Temple) G 6'5" 195 So. | Kinston, NC

2022-23 Stats: 15.3 PTS, 3.7 REB, 3.0 AST, 35% 3PT

-2nd leading scorer for Temple this season

-Seems like a perfect fit for an ACC squad needing a proven scorer at the 2

Demarcus Sharp (Northwestern State) G 6'3" 173 Sr. | Charleston, MO

2022-23 Stats: 19.5 PTS, 5.0 REB, 5.0 AST, 54% 3PT

-Led the Demons in scoring since transferring down from Missouri State

-Very good outside shooter, however does not shoot from distance with free-will

-Shifty guard that will make an immediate impact for a high major team

Phillip Russell (SEMO) G 5'10" 165 So. | St. Louis, MO

2022-23 Stats: 18.1 PTS, 5.1 AST, 2.9 REB, 36% 3PT

-High motor guard with a 2/1 assist-to-turnover ratio

-Initially began his career at SLU but played in limited spurts

Cam Martin (Kansas) F 6'9" 230 Grad. | Yukon, OK

2022-23 Stats: 4 GP, 1.8 PTS

-Played sparingly throughout the season after suffering a shoulder injury during a summer scrimmage

-Averaged 25 PTS, 9 REB, 45% 3PT in 2021-22 at Missouri Southern (Division II)

Bijan Cortes (Oklahoma) G 6'3" 194 So. | Kingfisher, OK

2022-23 Stats: 3.2 PTS, 2.0 AST, 48% 3PT

-Former 3-star recruit (#165) by 247Sports

-Left the team for several weeks this season but will be a capable floor general at the mid-major level in the future

-High level passer with the ability to score when needed
