Entering the 2023-24 men’s college basketball season, more than forty players from the state of Kansas are active on Division 1 rosters. As a team at Backdoor Sports, we have compiled our preseason first and second teams, featuring five players each.
The only requirement to be eligible for selection states is that players must have participated in at least one season of high school basketball in Kansas, with prep schools excluded (i.e. Sunrise Christian).
Zeke Mayo of South Dakota State was voted as preseason Player of the Year, after leading the Jackrabbits in scoring and rebounding last season as a sophomore. Mayo was recently selected as preseason Summit League Player of the Year as well.
